Gajoldoba:An overnight chase, followed by a dramatic jungle operation! Within just 24 hours, police managed to nab two key accused involved in the ATM loot incident at Bolbari in Maynaguri.
Panic spread last night after a group of miscreants looted an ATM in the area and attempted to flee. On sensing police surveillance, the gang abandoned their Scorpio vehicle near Gate Bazaar in Mandatari, Rajganj, and escaped into the forest.
But the police didn’t stop there. In the dead of night, a joint daring search operation was launched by Siliguri Police Commissionerate’s Gajoldoba outpost, Maynaguri police station, and the forest department. Each shadowed path and dense bush of Baikunthapur forest was combed through meticulously.
Finally, in the early hours of the morning, two looters were arrested from the Saraswatipur area inside Baikunthapur forest. Police recovered ₹15.48 lakh in cash from their possession. The arrested individuals are identified as Aslup Khan (resident of Haryana) and Shamsher Ali (resident of Bihar).
Within 24 hours, this major breakthrough has not only thrilled the police administration but also brought relief to the residents of Mandatari.
According to police sources, more individuals may be linked to this looting gang. Search operations will continue to trace other possible accomplices.
