Indian Football Star Mehtab Hossain Joins Practice with Young Players at Narayana School!
By Our Correspondent, Fulbari:
Once a name synonymous with Indian football pride — Mehtab Hossain visited the renowned Narayana School in Rajganj, Jalpaiguri. Known for his commanding presence on the field, Mehtab played for India and represented legendary clubs like Mohun Bagan and East Bengal. He also captained East Bengal through many crucial matches.
On this day, the football icon shared hands-on tips with the young players of the school. But he didn’t stop there — he joined them on the field for practice, reliving his early days with enthusiasm and joy. The entire school ground came alive with excitement, energy, and inspiration.
Addressing the students, he said —
“Play with heart and dedication. Whether it’s football, cricket, table tennis, or badminton — follow what you love. But stay away from one game — mobile games. They harm both your mind and body.”
He also shared words of advice for the parents, urging them to encourage their children to participate in physical games and sports.
Expressing concern about the future of Indian football, Mehtab remarked —
“India is not lacking in talent. But without proper training at the grassroots level, that talent will never fully bloom. We need to invest more at the base level starting now.”
Mr. Pankaj Kumar Jha, Principal of Narayana School’s Fulbari unit, warmly welcomed Mehtab Hossain. He said —
“At our school, academics go hand in hand with sports, music, and culture. We emphasize all-around development. We are honored to have an internationally renowned footballer like Mehtab Hossain with us. His presence is a huge source of inspiration for our students.”
On this special day, the school ground transformed into a mini stadium — where the small strides of young children echoed with the dreams of greatness.
