Siliguri:A new social service organization, Lions Club of Naba Diganta, was officially launched under Lions Clubs International District 322F in Siliguri. The club's installation and oath-taking ceremony for its newly elected office bearers was held on Saturday at a hotel on Sevoke Road.
The event was attended by District Governor Lion Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Past District Governor Lion Kedar Gazmer, LCIF Area Leader Lion Swaran Chowdhury, Lion Asha Ajmer, Zone Chairperson Lion Pooja Agarwal, along with several distinguished members of the Lions fraternity. The newly elected office bearers took their oath in the presence of the dignitaries.
The newly formed club will be led by Rabi Roy as President, Debashish Sardar as Secretary, and Pabitra Roy as Treasurer. The executive committee also includes Parimal Roy, Khokon Barman, Surya Roy, Supen Roy, Sudip Roy, Baburam Barman, and Samiran Roy.
Formed with the support of Siliguri Lions Go Getters, the members of Lions Club of Naba Diganta pledged to work wholeheartedly for social welfare and humanitarian causes. During the programme, Lion Swaran Chowdhury and Lion Kedar Gazmer spoke in detail about the club's future initiatives, responsibilities, and the ideals of Lions Clubs International.
The ceremony also witnessed the installation of the new executive committee of Siliguri Lions Go Getters. Arpita Chakraborty took oath as President, Pooja Gupta as Secretary, and Bishakha Daga as Treasurer. Outgoing President Swagata Roy formally handed over the responsibilities to the new President.
"I have been involved in social service activities for a long time. Now, I will have the opportunity to continue and expand that work under the banner of Lions. As the Club Secretary, I am committed to serving the community with even greater dedication and carrying out more social welfare initiatives."
Arpita Chakraborty, President of Siliguri Lions Go-Getters, said:
"This is our fifth installation ceremony, and I am delighted to take on the responsibility of serving as President. Alongside advancing the club's ongoing service initiatives, we are also exploring the possibility of upgrading our school at Sahudangi and bringing it under the CBSE Board to provide better educational opportunities."
Speaking on the occasion, Tuhin Shubhra Chakraborty, husband of Arpita Chakraborty, said that Arpita has always been passionate about social service and finds joy in serving the community while balancing her family responsibilities. He also acknowledged her significant contribution to the formation of Lions Club of Naba Diganta and expressed hope that, under her leadership, the club's humanitarian initiatives would expand further and positively impact more lives in the years ahead.
